This could be the same for almost every state in mainland Australia. This is
why driving interstate sucks.

The drive from my house to one of my son's is three states and 14 hours, half
of it just in Florida. To my daughter's it's parts of five states and 20 hours,
again half of it in Florida. Florida is a long, skinny state but you're never
more than an hour and a half from the ocean no matter where you are, though that
kind of sucks in hurricane season.

In Ontario here you can drive 22 hours and still be in Ontario (if you're
trying to drive West in Canada without crossing into the US).
