fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 07, 2011 02:40PM
just look at the luck past presidents have had trying to sidestep the 2nd
amendment....nada!
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: June 07, 2011 09:32PM
As much as I am in favour of gun control, fossil is right on this - the
constitutional right of US citizens to keep and bare arms is so entrenched in
that country and culture that it wont change in a hurry.
If anything the gun culture in the US has been strengthened in recent years (at
least from what I have picked up from media and anecdotal evidence) as people
want to have guns to protect themselves and their country from terrorists.
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 01:19AM
you missed the point of the right to bear once again.
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 02:35AM
No I didn't - I just didn't mention it.
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 02:54AM
you think the terrorist threat is the most important?
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 03:03AM
Is that what I said? Or did I say that the gun culture that was already there
had been strengthened by the terrorist threat?
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 03:14AM
i know what you said...but what did you mean? the threat of terrorism created
by the govt.? or the threat of planes flying into buildings? maybe you know of
an attack i don't know of? or to come?
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 03:49AM
or is it the irony of having the right to carry to help the general public arm
themselves against the inevitable new world order and Illuminati/masonic one
world dictatorship?
did i reach too far there for ya?
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 04:13AM
or maybe gun owners are paranoid delusionists?
c'mon man, speak up
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 04:24AM
No, not too far for me, but I fear you have over-reached yourself. If the new
world order and Illuminati/masonic one world dictatorship is inevitable (as you
claim) what is the point of taking up arms against it?
And as for what I meant, I meant what I said.
No I do not know of any impending attack, but how you think somebody like me who
lives in the back blocks of the planet would know anything like that is beyond
me. The next terrorist attack though may not be (and probably wont be) planes
flying into buildings, and due to the general fear of another terrorist attack I
have heard, anecdotally, that more people have armed themselves in order to
protect themselves and their country. It could even be argued that they are
doing so to ensure "the security of a free State".
That does not imply anything about what I personally believe is the main reason
why the 2nd amendment was enacted or what I personally believe is the biggest
threat to the US.

the point is that it means different things to different people. lumping them
all into terrorist paranoia is just wrong. i've never seen a breakdown of
theoretical percentages (or factual), but i wouldn't be surprised if someone has
tried.

So what did I say in my comments that went against what you just posted to make
you get you knickers in such a twist?
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 01:06PM
my knickers never get twisted...they're Egyptian cotton.
i do however get mildly irritated by anti gun people who try to marginalize my
rights with ideo-illogical statements, and i will call you out every time you
make such assumptions of facts without the facts.
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 06:21PM
Except I didn't try to marginalise your rights and made no assumptions of
facts, hence your knickers, at least metaphorically, were well and truly
twisted.
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 06:54PM
that's
your opinion.
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: June 08, 2011 08:54PM
Besides, I'm not anti-gun. I have fired guns many times before and have enjoyed
doing so. I have even killed furred and feathered creatures. I am however
pro-gun control.
Mrkim Report This Comment Date: June 09, 2011 01:28AM
I'm all about gun control too. True gun control means never having to say
"I missed you"
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: June 09, 2011 01:33AM
i believe in gun control also yak, i have never pulled one on a person, but i
have had them pulled on me...i kept one of the 3 for nostalgia purposes.
