PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Izzy Alcantara was suspended six games by the International
League on Wednesday, one day after he kicked the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red
Barons' catcher and charged the mound.
Alcantara was also fined an undisclosed sum in the Paw-Sox's 10-3 loss.
The brawl began after Red Barons pitcher Blas Cedeno threw Alcantara two
brush-back pitches in the eighth inning.
After the second pitch, Alcantara kicked catcher Jeremy Salazar in the face
mask, then charged Cedeno.
Alcantara exchanged blows with Kevin Orie before teammates restrained him.
Orie, Cedeno and Paw-Sox reliever Jesus Pena were also ejected.
Alcantara will be eligible to play in the Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11.
What a fucking loser! This guy can't handle it when the pitcher keeps him from
crowding the plate. And what the fuck did the catcher do wrong? Alcantara
needs his spoiled, dumb, ass kicked!
