This is the way it is now.

I keep coming back to this photo, it says so much of where we are now. The men
with 30-40 years experience in so many jobs in Sydney sold their homes for money
they couldn't believe, bought in the regions, invested for dividends, watch the
money pile up and wait for another slump to invest again. Hundreds of thousands
are doing that.
I hear comments like "Why would you live in Sydney?", "Why would
you want to live in Sydney?"
So young women fill the gap, until they find a man who can afford her, marry,
quit to raise a couple of kids. Yes, she passed her test and got her
certificate, but the decades of experience in so many jobs is suffering. Young
men have to get off silly computer games, stop doing degrees that never lead to
a career ('gender studies') and do the work. What are governments doing about
it? In Sydney they are closing the TAFE colleges, so young men can't do the
work, and importing people whose qualifications, from what I hear, are dubious
at best. This won't end well.
