Maybe that's what the Mayans saw for Dec. 21 and not understanding what it was
they assumed it would end life here so they stopped the calender.

The polar shift referred to is the magnetic poles, not the rotational axis of
the planet and it's not going to happen all at once but over thousands of years.
Geologist say it has happened many time in earth's history and not a big deal.
