Turkey is a very cool country. It's much more European than other Middle
Eastern countries.
I lived in Ankara, Turkey for a year in 1996 when I was in the Air Force. If
you ever get a chance to go there, I recommend it. There are lots of sights to
see and things to do, and the people are very friendly.
You can take a ferry ride up the Bosphorus to the Black Sea and stop in
Istanbul, "the city of spies" (population 10 million). Or you can go
to Capodocia and check out the natural hit springs that have been in continuous
use for thousands of years. Or take a quick boat ride over to the island of
Cypress (split down the middle - half Turkish and half Greek).
There are two kinds of beer in Turkey -- Tuborg and Efes. And every major hotel
in Ankara includes a casino.
Basically, Turkey rocks.
