They're all the best dogs in the world. There's no such thing as a "bad dog"...unless he chews up your shoes.

Or your arm 542! I gotta disagree with you on that one! There's some bad mother fucken dogs out there! There are some breeds that shouldn't be allowed to exist...., and some owners that shouldn't be allowed to breed! Though the laws in most countries are slowly changing.

I suppose the rationale that dogs do "take after their owners" is true to some extent. But one can't make a broad sweeping judgement against a certain breed of dog, like your basic Pit Bull, for example. These dogs can be some of the friendliest and most gentle dogs out there, but all it takes is some stupid crack monkey breeding 'em in his filthy back yard for little else than fighting stock to demonize the entire breed. I don't think the idiot media helps either.
Personally, I have English Springer Spaniels. Great companions, good around kids, loyal and very intelligent. All of the things humans seem to be lacking in general.

Yep, well said 542, I agree with you on that count and I've met and had fun with a couple of pit bull's similar to duane's, though it's hard to tell what their temperament is like on face value because of the stigma that's attached to their breed. I think the scary part is knowing that they, and some other breeds have "potential" to be savage dogs. But it sounds like duane is not a redneck that's out to breed a savage either!
