Why didn't the US govt plan for this?
It's not like the huricane was unexpected. They had time to issue warnings about it. Why weren't they organizing the reconvery effort to be on standby for after it struck.
I appreciate that these storms are somewhat unpredictable but the lack of forethought and planning exhibited by the 'powers that be' are an absolute embarrasment to the US.
I don't understand how this can be allowed to happen. Not the govt's fault that the storm happened, but their fault is the piss-weak response and shocking lack of coordinated effort.

Thought we were all prepared to do what needed to be done. After all, the storm was predicted to hit our coast a week out. Admit it, your government doesn't give a fuck about it's citizens. Our government is a corporation that acts in its own self-interest. It's not profitable to help poor blacks so they don't, regardless of how much taxes you paid. The corporate misleaders of this so-called dumbocracy think our money belongs to them. And you, poor bastard, still think they'll protect you? Think again. You're screwed.

I posted this picture to show the idiocy of New Orleans residents. I remember Sunday, the day before the storm all the major news networks talking about how bad the hurricane was going to be. "Its a category 5" They all said "Louisianna is below sea level" And then I saw thousands lined up at the Enormo-Dome. I saw the looks in there eyes. It was a look of gluttonous carefree and careless lazy attitudes. They didnt give a fuck about no storm. They didn't want to evacuate...because God forbid that would have inconvienced them too much. Spend 65$ dollars for a greyhound bus ticket to Houston?? No way...I'm fine right where I am. Well guess what you sorry fucking negroes. You paid a price for your laziness. I do give thanks to the Bush Adminstration for waiting as long as he did before helping the poor negroes. Thats about the only thing he has done right while in office. Bottom line! When the weatherman say a cat 5 hurricane is coming your way...you get the hell out of town. Dont try to be macho...Dont think about your job...don't think about how lazy you are JUST MOVE!!...or else you'll end up like the sorry negroes of New Orleans!

INteresting view. Alas, the government INVITED the people to the dome because they had nowhere to go. The well-off, even those who rode out the storm in their homes, were rescued the day after the storm. Sad thing is, there were plans in place to protect the weathy and their property. Bush DECIDED not to help the people in the dome. Wonder why?

This country is based on checks and balances and distributited powers of government. It is not the President's resoponsiblily to ensure the safty of every citizen, it's impossible. The state and local governments are the ones that should be held responsible for this problem. The mayor of New Orleans couldn't even control thier own citizens. And did they ask for federal help before the disaster, no...
