So anyway, Trump wants you to do what? And what's the punchline?
By the way EVERYONE can decode that barcode and tell exactly where quasi lives

The grand totalizer, the punchline is that Trump whines and rants against mail in voting then this shows up in my mailbox. You can't make this silly shit up.

There is a difference between an absentee ballot and mail in voting..sorry that your TDS doesn't allow you to understand that.

That's hilarious, pj, I've voted with an "absentee ballot" many times and only one time was I absent from home. This year, though, I won't be mailing it in as usual, I'll drop it in the box at the supervisor of elections office because Trumps henchman has fucked up the post office so bad.

So you've voted with an absentee ballot several times..bully for you..
but as I said, there is a difference between an absentee ballot and mail in voting.
I could explain it but I know you won't understand.

I love how Americans all turn on each other over politics. I've never seen anything quite like it anywhere else in the world.

The last four years have been a little different, pulse. I've never been quite so adamant but you've seen some of what we're dealing with. For me this goes beyond politics.

So I went to my supervisor of elections website and according to it vote by mail and absentee voting are the same thing. I'm going to send him a stern letter telling him pj says they're not. I wonder if the letter will arrive at his office before the election.

In my area of Arkansas we don't fight with people for having a different viewpoint in politics, it is their right and we just say "aren't you precious?".

pulse: "I love how Americans all turn on each other over politics."
.. Most Americans aren't like that..
It's mainly people that have a "sports fan" mentality and politics is like a team sport for them.. they will only associate with their fellow teammates and will only consume media that praises their team or most often, vilifies the other team.. if the other team fumbles they will taunt and jeer but if their team fumbles it is somehow still the other teams fault...

There is a fairly large portion of our society that realizes it's all really just a dog and pony show. (Or more accurately, a donkey and elephant show)..

So many people are grossly uninformed.. they read a headline and maybe skim the article and form a rock solid, unwavering opinion on the matter, without ever verifying if anything in the article was actually true.. it happens routinely that some 'breaking news' happens and people react, then after a day or a week or however much time passes, the truth comes out and those people that have already made up their minds will refuse to believe the truth now.. it really boils down to them not wanting to admit they were duped..that they believed a lie, and they did so because of hatred. A hatred that is likely unjustified because it is the result of media misrepresentation.

It's really easy to see the results of media bias.. the people that hate Trump for example never watch FOX news and they will say it is "fake news" ..meanwhile the people that love Trump will never watch CNN and they will say it is "fake news" and then they will go to their social media accounts that are all just like minded people blathering away into their respective echo chambers..
Politcal Polarization

quasi: "you've seen some of what we're dealing with."
What a shitty thing to say.
As if your, and only your, viewpoint matters.
But it's a good example of the point I'm trying to make.. too many people are so far one direction or the other that they refuse to even consider that other people are Allowed to have a different viewpoint.. If they say they disagree then they are called an idiot because they've been drinking the koolaid... And if they get angry because they were called an idiot, well now they get called a snowflake.. calling people names because you disagree with them is the exact opposite of helpful.

Have any of you noticed that all people want to do is attack, attack, attack... people will talk shit on Trump and other Republicans day after day and never say a word about all the fucked up Democrats.. if all you want to do is criticize one team and completely ignore all the problems caused by others then you are indeed a blind fool.

I've been an independent my whole life but usually leaned to the political right and with Trump it's not a matter of left and right it's a matter of right and wrong. Biden and the democrats by and large are not the boogieman, they''re as concerned about preserving America as anyone else, and it doesn't take the media censoring Trump to show how horrible and self centered he is; read his tweets and listen to his speeches, his constant childish boasting and name calling. Biden absolutely has his faults as does the left but if anyone thinks Trump is a better, more capable man than Biden they haven't been paying attention over the last 30 or 40 years. Trump has bankrupted business after business and lost a billion dollars in a decade that we know of - bankrupted casinos for goodness sake, and says he hires only the best people only to fire them and say how horrible they are.

If it's just the left that wants Trump gone what of all the recent Republican Presidents and Presidential candidates who haven't supported him? What of arch consevatives such as George Will and the late William F. Buckley who called out the glaring flaws and lack of character in Trump during the 2000 campaigns? What of General Kelly, General Mattis, General McCaffrey, General Powell, Admiral McRaven, Admiral Mullen, and Ambassador Bolton - are they the left? Then there's this - in my working life I experienced job loss in two recessions, in 1991 and January of 2009. Who was in the White House when those recessions happened, Republican or Democrat, then who in the White House oversaw the recovery, Republican or Democrat?

Now comes our current travails of COVID-19 and the resultant financial problems we're having. There were warnings, playbooks, and people put in place by previous administrations to deal with pandemics, all tossed out by Trump. He hangs his hat on stopping Chinese citizens from entering the U.S., calling it good, and stopping there for most of a month and claiming the virus would soon disappear, etc., etc., seemingly oblivious to how disease spreads, and spreads far and fast in the jet age of travel. Instead of seeing the writing on the wall as things unfolded in the rest of the world he was claiming we were safe in the U.S. with the oceans separating us (which didn't even work in 1918) and politicized it by calling it a hoax. Slow to shut down and quick to reopen, America now leads the world in per capita deaths from the virus and the scattershot approach to dealing with it is only prolonging it and dragging out the dire financial and mortal effects. Instead of shutting down as a nation for a comparatively brief period and gradually reopening, it now drags on and on. From my parents generation which endured the hardships and privations of two world wars, another pandemic, and the great depression we've become a nation of whiners throwing tantrums over wearing masks and social distancing for a short time with the chief whiner and tantrum thrower residing in the White House, that is when he's not spending millions of taxpayer dollars on golfing trips, something he claimed in his campaign he'd be too busy to do. And speaking of campaign promises, where's that check from Mexico and the great wall? Where's the replacement for Obamacare that's better? But I digress. As for the virus and the financial crisis caused by shutdowns intended to save lives I have a personal experience that relates. While I was out of work during the recession of 1991 - 1992 (did you look up what party was in the White House when that happened?) it was a struggle, tough times with a young family. In the midst of that my wife died at the age of 29. So when it comes to which is the harder pill to swallow, a short financial crisis or the death of a loved one from COVID, do you even need to ask me what I think about that?

No, Trump doesn't need the media to make him look bad, never has because he speaks for himself in his juvenile and often incoherent manner. What we need instead of calling the media and the left the enemy of the people and dismissing them out of hand (an old, old authoritarian tactic) is for folks to pull their heads out of their asses, clean the shit out of their eyes, and take an honest look at the King wannabe called Trump.

Why do so many people fail to understand that there are 2 sides to every coin...

Constant name calling? "You're a lying, dog-faced pony soldier" - Joe Biden, responding to a 21-year-old college student in New Hampshire that had asked him about his poor performance in the Iowa caucuses.

“No, I haven’t taken a test. Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man! That’s like saying you, before you got in this program, you’re taking a test whether you’re taking cocaine or not. What do you think, huh? Are you a junkie?” - Joe Biden, responding to the question of whether or not he had taken a cognitive test.

Those are just two that come to mind, I know there are more examples and so do you.
And, Yes, I know these are mild compared to Trump but the point is, you can't say Biden doesn't call people names or say stupid shit too...

Not just the left that wants him gone?
Were there any democrats that didn't like Obama?
Military leaders don't like Trump? Gee, I wonder why? Maybe because of how many wars he Hasn't started.

I've experienced job loss too. The best job I ever had was lost because of tree hugging liberals. Those same liberals are the reason that the West coast is seeing raging wildfires every year. They try to blame it on climate change instead of poor forestry management. How many wildfires were there in the state of Oregon between 1950 and 1980? What changed? Forestry management laws by Liberals is what changed. 40 years later and they refuse to admit they're wrong and instead blame global warming. And before you spew out some NPR talking points as a rebuttal, understand this, I fucking live here where this is happening, I have worked several years in the timber industry and I know several people that still do, including loggers. Look at a map of the fires in Oregon..Does global warming only exist on the East side of Interstate 5? Why aren't there fires west of I-5?
quasi, imagine if someone that had never even seen a kayak or an alligator trying to tell You how to navigate swamp waters...that's the equivalent of the news media talking about the cause of the wildfires on the west coast...

Covid 19---ah yes, the dreaded Rona.. a virus so dangerous that you have to be tested to see if you even have it...a virus that kills 6% of the those that actually do get it...which is what, 5%? 10%? And even those numbers are inaccurate due to false positives and people not tested because they don't have symptoms.
i.e. the true % of positive cases will never be known.
As I've said before, people react to headlines and do no research. Trump did not call covid-19 a 'hoax'. He called the Democrats finding fault with his response to it a hoax.
Is it a hoax?

Or is it a hoax?

Maybe it's just fear mongering?

I'm so tired of hearing about how Trump failed... here's the thing, being a new virus there is no way for anyone to truly know the correct action 100%. What could he have done differently? Lock down the entire USA? Would people have obeyed that order? Look how long it took to get people to wear masks...what should Trump have done? Firing squads for non mask wearers? Had he done any more than what he did, the Left would have called him a dictator.
Do you blame Trump for how many people died from Democrat Governors putting covid-19 positive people in nursing homes that are full of elderly and vulnerable people?
Blaming anyone for the spread of a virus suggest a misunderstanding of how a virus spreads... i.e. virus gonna virus...

I'm sorry you lost your wife. I've suffered loss too. It's difficult but I don't blame anyone.
Dying is a part of life. Not everyone gets to live to their full life expectancy. Sad but true.
Both of my parents would more than likely still be alive if they had used cannabis to treat their ailments instead of prescription pills...but that's another topic of discussion..

Golf trips, the wall, obamacare.. I don't see any point in commenting further as I seriously doubt anything that I've written thus far has caused anyone to rethink their position on anything.. Sadly that seems to be the case with many people..nobody is willing consider alternate viewpoints and most are too stubborn to change their mind once it's made up.

You are correct quasi about Trump not needing the media to make him look bad as he does just fine doing that himself...however there is no question that the media makes it all look worse than it really is..also there is a lot of people that care more about policy than behavior. I care more about the potential loss of freedoms under a President Harris than anything Trump has ever said or will say..
You don't like Trump but don't care about people that don't like Biden..so why should anyone care about what you like? Why does the Left seem to thinki the only thing that matters what they want and the rest of the country can get burnt down for disagreeing with them?
Look at all of the major cities in the USA that have seem riots and looting for over 3 months..all of them have Democrat police unions, Democrat police chiefs, Democrat city councils, Democrat mayors and are in states with Democrat Governors...for decades. These cities are failing...and they blame Trump for it. I personally know many people in Portland that have had enough. People that have lost their businesses downtown because of it and they are hurting..I care about them way more than I care about people that have hurt feelings because orange man say mean things.

I respect your opinions quasi and I do understand, I think anyway, where you're coming from.. and I truly am sorry about the loss of your wife at a young age.. the same thing happened to a very close friend and I have seen how much it hurts.

I wish more people would understand that we all have different thoughts, opinions, and feelings, and stop attacking people for their differences.
