Nope, it's as old as I can remember. Imagine your buddies riding their Harleys and vintage Triumphs to the local hangout, and you show up on a scooter. Friends can be very cruel...

Gruff, I restored a beauty of an old Vespa, a P200E, a few years ago. I'm a wheel man, collect and restore just about anything. But when I rode that little Vespa to a local biker hangout (many of these guys are my friends) I caught so much shit from everyone, and when I sat down at the bar, the bastards bought me four rounds of milk!

These old Vespas were nothing to sneeze at, really. The damn things would easily go 80-85 mph, accelerate quicker and actually outrun a "real" bike like a Harley big twin. No kidding.
