A century ago, they'd have killed it, cut it up and sold it on Tower Pier

Gotta love an opinion piece where the author shows their complete lack of understanding with the comment "if you take a whale out of water it will stop breathing and die" front and center.

It's blatantly a parody. I love an opinion post where a user shows their complete lack of understanding of the subject matter front and centre....

im not sure that a whale would stop breathing out of water because it is not capable of doing so - clearly a whale can breath out of water. However a whale will have difficulty breathing out of water because the lungs will be under so much weight and there is no longer a bouyancy force to support that weight. Perhaps under these conditions resperation is so difficult that whale just slowly receives so little oxygen and consumes so much during the strenuous resperation activity that an oxygen debt builds up, the whale passes out, and then simply does not breath anymore and dies. I dont see this as a problem for small whales and certainly not dolphins or porpises but for a large whale, I believe my theory to be viable

It is a fucking fish, they should have eaten it. The British eat hundreds of tons of fish every year. It is like cattle and pets. Some animals are considered CUTE enough to be allowed to live. Others are ugly enough or unpopular enough to be eaten. It is all bullshit. I say we should eat dead HUMANS, after thoroughly cooking them of course. Why waste Fred when you can TASTE TED!
