Why does Gimp let me see the pic as a normal pic in the preview but doesn't let me convert it to a proper pic full-size? Does it have an extra thumb-nail version stored inside somewhere?

hmmmmm i think there is a way for it to show in full scale
i was reading somewhere about that in a gimp tutorial...
i'll see if i can't locate it again

If you gunna use GIMP using it in a Linux based Operating System would be the best thing to do, why even bother with a ported GTK app for windows?

Photoshop can help you here, in a way that GIMP cannot.
