208143 - I like your point about americans & canadians BUT St George has a point. A treacle sponge pudding has Golden Syrup in it and 90% of UK households would agree. It just does - there's no right or wrong or explaining it - peolpe just tend to use one when technically they mean the other. "Duffus"???(what kind of crap word is that?)I didn't think there were any americans left on this site since the porn went.

IT IS FECKIN SYRUP, A TREACLE SPONGE HAS TREACLE IN IT WHICH IS DARK/BLACK. SYRUP IS GOLDEN LIGHT COLOURED AND CAN BE MADE IN A SYRUP SPONGE.
THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, SYRUP IS FROM SUGARS WHERE-AS TREACLE IS FROM MOLLASES - YOU ASSES
