Bush, an incumbent self-labeled "war president," received only 50.8% of the popular vote, and there were enough voting irregularities to call the fairness of the election into question. That's hardly something to be proud of.

I think this demonstrates the big problem facing American politics- it's no longer seen as anything more relevant than a sport. Our side won, hooray! It doesn't matter that the environment will be destroyed, the economy wrecked, our foreign reputation savaged. All that matters is, my team won.
