It's a cool pic, but not a single image. It's a composite of several day and night satellite photos. No camera can image details on both day and nightside of Earth at the same time because of the 100 000 fold difference in light levels. Secondly, there are absolutely no clouds, so it has to be a composite of dozens of images.
