they died for geopolitical reasons. they died to secure diminishing energy sources. they died to build a bridgehead in the middle east. they died in order to prop up saudi and the gulf states. they died to advance the US strategy of Russian encirclement.
It has nothing to do with freedom, liberation or even winning or losing. US troops are considered expendable.
