Well pulse detonation or PDE is a in testing design engine. Right now there is no practicaal design for these engines yet there has been a proven basic concept to this. basically the engine works by mixing fuel with oxygen (air) to make a flammable mixture so it will ignite. Tjis all creates a ton of pressure which is forced out through a nozzle making thrust. hope that answers your question.
