You have a point.
But the legislation makes it a Felony to not only =be= a so-called "illegal", but also =help= a so-called "illegal". Too bad if you needed the labor, or accidentally gave someone food and water.
This legislation moves towards treating any Mexican's at all in a discriminitory way... "well, =they= are legal, but they might be helping someone illegal..." etc. etc.
Why is this such an important issue now, I wonder?
Hmm... Iraq is in flames, gas prices keep going up, the housing market is about to crash, interest rates are rising, corporations are getting even more wealthy, while the number of poor grows.
Golly, now why could "immigration" suddenly become so amazingly important? It's an issue that really divides people.. kind of like "abortion". Hmm...
