Do you think that if income tax was abolished you would earn 25% more? Uh, you would probably get less in real terms as all of those `free` services would have to be billed to you, then privatised, then billed at higher cost. I pay over 30% in tax where I live, but then I live in a country frequently rated in the top 3 best countries to live in, rated by those studies I keep reading about in the news (not the news from here I might add).

Look at it this way, your earnings are linked to the tax you pay, higher taxes equals greater cost of goods and services, so you have to be paid more to afford a basic standard of living, so a rise in taxes will equal a rise in earnings (but in real terms if they each increase by the same percentage then nothing will change). And anyway, I think you probably don`t pay any tax on income at all, the company you work for does.
