We were the first truly democratic nation on the planet, and very proud of that. If the government went 'ape shit' on the people, no we would not roll over and take it. Our police force would not accept it, our military personnel would not accept it and our citizens would not accept it. The fact that there is tight gun control laws here does not mean that there are no guns here. There is a firearms shop just down the road from where I work. Many people here enjoy hunting and almost every farmer would have a rifle and/or shotgun. There are gun clubs in all the major cities and also in many of the smaller towns. My 9 year old son did some target shooting with a .22 rifle just a few weeks ago. Although I personally do not own a gun or have a gun licence I know people who do, I know how to use them and have been hunting with friends on numerous occassions.

That said, jgoins argument over open carry, and my initial point about that woman who used her martial arts training on her attackers, has nothing to do with government overthrow. It is to do with personal protection. If you can't keep up with the discussion fossil, it's probably best to keep out of it.
