NOS is a poor mans turbo but I also see it as lazy mans way of makin ponies. Buy a kit, cobble it onto any engine and kazaaam, everyone sees how bad your ride is and thinks "what an ace mechanic he must be!" , when in truth all the schmuck problee knew how to do was open his wallet
I'd NEVER use it for anything but a cheat for gettin into boost if you were runnin some waaaay oversized turbo and then have it shut down by a Hobbs switch once it hit a preset boost level in the intake tract.
David Vizard was one of the pioneers of this process back before computer engine management and fuel injection made managing turbo packages a lot easier.
When you have a NOS failure it's unlikely there's much of anything salvageable in the whole damned engine since it effectively turns your NOS injector into a cutting torch that's wreakin havoc on every component inside your engine. I guess if you're runnin junkyard motors that's Ok, otherwise, a big no thanks here
BTW, if that Gremlin had a 409 in it, it didn need NOS to be a bad ass
