I've run up and down that hill more times than I can remember.. 99.9% of those trips were in a truck with a manual transmission.
The few times that I've run it with an automatic transmission were with fairly light loads.. just flipped the Jake brakes on High, set the cruise control for about 45mph and let her roll...
