I was alluding to the "sameness" of the roofing
materials (Standard, as you say)
A "local zoning ordinance" is a term from the U.S. which refers to a
law which serves to "stand
ardize" various aspects of building...
The "standardization" of Giglio Porto's roofs
are a large part of it's charm.
Again, I apologize for showing my ignorance.

Well, in some places also in Italy, specially when they want to keep the
anchent look of buildings, they actually set up zone ordinances like the ones
you are talking about. But I don't know if it is the case of the Giglio...I
think most of these buildings are old enough to be "original"....
