Why does everone assume or mention death when it comes to motorcycles, fucking crazy!
More people die of AIDS & CAR accidents than from bikes.

Ive come off striking a ditch at 55,totaled the bike.Broke the front rim, drove the handle bar in the gas tank, twisted the frame, and ripped off most of the fairing on a 750 nighthawk.According to bystanders I did 2 front flips over a fence struck the pavement on my helmet and cracked it and sheared the plastic on the pavement, all I got was some road rash(forarm and lower back)a twisted anckle and a frog in my calf from the rear footpegs when it catapulted me.I was young and naive. The one thing I know Im glad the military made us wear roadguard vests and helmets in order to collect your Life insurance. It saved my life and protected my back from alot of road rash(60 feet of pinwheeling after crash and flips and cartwheels.

I once hit at a ditch at the speed of light and travelled around the world so quickly that i managed to land back on the bike and keep control of it.

Helmet never saved my ass, but it could so I continue to wear it. If you got a bike, don't go off like some punk on a $10-$15 thousand bike and not spend another $1000 on armored leathers. Man I'd be fucked for life if not for the armor and leather. I'm tellin you!!!

How do you think racers fall off at over 100 mph, get up and walk away. SERIOUSLY

This bike will do 0-60 in 3 seconds flat and the quarter in 10.9.Have you ever rode an SV.He might spank your ass on a track or in stoplight or city racing. You obviously dont realise it has 68lbs. of torque from 3 grand up to 10.5grand.Ive had it to 165 mph on the bypass and have heard of 175 from some riders. All that from a naked.Dont knock twins.

Duane, I had a TL1000R a couple of years back, and while it was a great bike, my '05 R1 will absolutely slaughter that TL in every measure of performance. Remember, the SV has the TL motor, but detuned for a wider, more flexible powerband and torque. The most powerful street standard has been the Yamaha FZ-1, at around 136 rear wheel HP...the only thing that keeps that bike from going more than 155 mph is aerodynamic drag. A trait shared by the SV. I like twins, rode a friend's Ducati 999R, easily one of the fastest supersports I've ever ridden, but I keep going back to that R1!

"Unlike some Continental machinery, however, the SV also delivers the big numbers; the test bike went up a genuine 256km/h without any detectable stress, the motor spinning just below the power peak at 9500rpm, in just over 2200m."[www.motoring.co.za]

256 km/h = 159.071025 mph,and the specs I quoted from motorcyclist magacine(3 sec 0-60 10.9 quarter)

Not bad, considering my TL with its full bodywork would do only 5 miles faster on the top.

Speed isn't always a factor. I knew someone only goin 55mph on a Harley Road King and a deer ran out in front of him. He lost control and landed on his head, thus breaking his neck and killing him instantly (so the doctors say!), though he was also ran over by a damn women that was following too close. Just goes to show you when it's your time....

I've got an '04 and '05 R1, an '04 CBR1000RR, an '05 CBR1000RR Repsol, an '03 FZ1 Limited, '02 ZZR1200, and a '94 ZX11, among my other bikes...15 of 'em at last count. I pay only $150 a month to insure all of 'em, but State Farm insures by displacement only, not by model.
I'm in my 40's too, so I guess that helps.

I like State Farm, but then I guess they like me too, since I insure my cars with 'em as well.
Average annual policy for me on a 1000cc bike regardless of model is about $268.00. Cheap!
Just as long as you don't have a bunch of tickets and accidents on your DMV records, insurance shouldn't be too crazy. One of my customers rides a GSXR600 and pays almost $300 a month!! But he's 17, and has a few tickets. Ah, youth...I try to forget those days!
