Hugo Chavez is President of Venezuela, by the way -- friend of Castro, uses threat of US intervention in Venezuela as rallying cry to avoid having to explain economic problems to his own country in time of record high oil prices. He, along with Bush and all other Western Hemisphere leaders (other than Castro, who was not invited) are in Argentina at the moment trying to make nice.

Well, considering that the US /did/ support the coup fomenters, there is a bit of truth to his allegations of US black ops against Venezuela, non? And then we have influencial religious leaders (P.Robertson) making very public 'hints' about illegally assassinating leaders of soverign countries... What's a guy to believe?

I don't know anything about the 'economic problems' you mention though.. I will have to do more research.
