As usual madnez, it's a bit more complicated than you might comprehend.
Bail 'em out at a cost we as a country can't afford & will have our
grandkids still payin for or .... Not bail 'em out and pretty much business as
we now know it disappears.
Even now money is so tight it's seriously straining business getting done and
companies looking to make capital investments in machinery to upgrade or improve
their business positions are dead in the water because no one's loanin shit till
this gets sorted out.
Small scale businesses who typically aren't looking for customers wanting to
invest more than a few thousand bucks, no biggee. For my business, where
customers are looking at investments more substantial than that, and need the
ability to borrow $$ for their purchases and amortize the costs over a span of a
few years, it's all come to a stand still.
Just be happy you're in a position to hold the one you have on this issue
Not sayin I'm all for the bail-out either, as there's certainly a helluva cost
to us all and I don't see it as one the American public has any responsibility
to shoulder. Then again, without some kind of fix for the multifaceted problem
at hand, the impact could be far more grave to us all than most would think.
The analysts perdict the fallout of not working to resolve this problem could
lead to instantly dropping us into a serious recession and a an increased level
of loan foreclosures, which could extend well past loans on just housing.
Many loans offer the lender the right to call the loan due at any point and as
the banking industry tries to pull themselves up from their respective
bootstraps, callin in large packages of loans could be a way of doing so.
With all that in mind, the old saying "careful what you wish for as you may
surely get it" is something to ponder mightily before weighing in on this
issue

I vote for NO Bail out, it is time the fraudulent credit capitalist
corporations eat it. start fresh with real currency made from actual metals, no
paper no pretend money. no insurance giants, no more! Let go back to were you
buy something because you actually have the money to pay for it and the profit
is made up front and not some backwards interest deification scheme.
I say fuck em and see where the cards fall. I am tired of the game as it is
because no one wins but the rich.

Bill Clinton Blames Democrats for Financial
Crisis
Going very much against the media meme that the current financial crisis is all
George W. Bush and the Republicans' fault, Bill Clinton on Thursday told ABC's
Chris Cuomo that Democrats for years have been "resisting any efforts by
Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards
and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac" (video available
here, relevant section at 2:45).

for simpler times.

That's all well and good, but when was the last time you or anyone you know
plopped down the cash to buy a new car, home, boat, motorcycle, vacation home,
or a $100k+ piece of machinery? Sorry, but credit, especially in industry, is a
necessary evil and ain't likely to go away
I have a very simple rule on personal credit, I charge, I pay it at the end of
the month, if I can't outright buy it, then I hafta save to get it. Then again
I live a simple life, one home, 1 old car & lotsa toys ... all paid for
with cash

I know it's the way of the world, but I only spend what I have. Even if that
means saving, and saving, and saving, and saving. Hard times and all that will
pay off. Never in debt.

I don't like the bailout one bit, but I also think that if we don't share some
of the load now the whole damned roof is gonna fall in and a lot more people are
going to get hurt a la a depression of the sort my parents had to struggle
through. There's plenty of blame to go around, too, despite madmex's idea that
only one person is to blame. I hate to see bigger government and more
regulations but the greed and stupidity of so many people that drove this crisis
to this point needs to be halted somehow.

I know most folks viewed Ron Paul as a nut case, but one point he was adamant
about was getting rid of the Federal Reserve, which I wholeheartedly agree with.
Not that it would have mattered much in this case, but it is definitely a
stranglehold on our country and as most of you already know is NOT even a
government entity, although it manipulates our $$, it's value and the
inflation/deflation rates almost single handedly

Sounds to me like some of you would like to see a run on banks. I personally
would not like to see this happen as I do have a little in the bank for a
change. Don't know much about the bailout but if it will prevent bank failures
then I am for it.
bigbrutedan Report This Comment Date: September 26, 2008 02:10PM
This is by far the worst shape I have ever seen this country in. Democrats,
Republicans, Hell they are all the same. If you want to solve a problem, you
must first rid yourselves of the reasons why the problems exist in the first
place.
Ron Paul would have been a better choice over McCain that is for sure, but there
again, the puppeteers pull the strings and the puppet is chosen. While Hilary
was not an option over Obama, the Dems had no better choice, so there again,
puppet chosen. What ever happened to a good independent candidate? Where is Ross
Perot when you need him? Jesse Venturi? Ron Jeremy? Hell, anyone? The first step
to fixing this country is to stop worrying about third world countries. Worry
about our borders. I heard Palin say we need to take the fight to the terrorist.
Tell me how you do that without another World effort? Are we the only ones
concerned about it? Maybe we should just take on the Devil himself? I believe it
would be the same cause. Fact is, protect our borders, create jobs here, buy
here and sell here. Stop lobbyists and corporate greed and get a pay scale that
everyone can live with. We have been taught from a young age, or I should say
programmed that in order to be an American, you must first get an education
(College) buy a half million dollar house, own several cars and maybe a Hummer,
and tour the world on lavish vacations. Well, fact of the matter is, this is why
most Americans are in trouble now. Over extended and greedy. This collapse of
the banking system will send a direct message to the American people that we
are going to have to rethink the way we live. We can not use tax payer money
since we are the ones that fund everything including a war that should have
never been started in the first place. Oh by the way, where is Bin Laden, he has
become a regular Waldo. I hope we have an Independent Candidate besides Ralph
Nader that can come out and step up to the plate. Maybe not this election, but
by the next one. Say hello to your next puppet, President Obama. Man that is
going to take some getting use to.

All this Financial shit going on weeks away from the election makes me wonder
if the Demofags didn't had a hand in it ?. I sure hope I'm wrong cause the
next logical thing to happen (in a couple of weeks) is another 'TERRORIST"
attack on America, which would be the GOP answer to the Demofag Wall Street
crisis.....

quasi Report This Comment Date: September 26, 2008 10:37PM
While I don't agree with all your points, bigbrutedan, I can really get behind
your statement that many Americans are programmed to be overextended and greedy.
I think it's a pretty even split that the blame for this mess is the desire of
so many people to have more than they can afford (and more, and more, and more)
and the willingness of the lending industry to foolishly loan money to those
people.

Quasi, I have to agree with your last statement. Big Dan there said a mouth
full.
though Ron Paul did a Ross Perot on us except he didn't ask to come back. what
ever the case maybe be. McCain is looking like a loser at this point, unless one
of the States pulls a Florida Ballot election, but honestly if voting really
worked it would be Illegal. I think no matter what, we all have to ride this one
out even though we all know it is headed straight into the ground and it is
picking up speed. It has to get worse before it gets worse and it is already
really bad.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than
standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the
issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and
corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all
property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers
conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the
people, to whom it properly belongs. —Thomas Jefferson, 1802

Hey shaDEz, still waitin on your example of even ONE SINGLE COMMUNIST REGIME
that's ever really worked.
It's been quite some time since I asked for you to show us the shining example
of how well your ideologies work when implemented, but I guess it's just not
forthcoming. Why not? I mean, it might actually draw someone over to your side,
yakno, increase the Comrade Quotient and all that nifty shit if you'd just do
so, so why haven't you done so?
I guess just like the rest of the weak idealist out there it's easier to sit on
the sidelines and talk shit about those in action than it is to actually provide
examples of workable solutions to problems.
Though I view such actions as weak and divisive, with the same level of impact
in enabling a viable solution to the problem as pissin on a forest fire and
complainin nothing's bein done about it while hundreds of other work towards the
same result around you with more effective tools.
But, hey, thanks to the semi-free speech OUR country still allows You and I
(<-or did you forget this IS the country you and I were both born into?), you
are still allowed to spew your divisive rhetoric, even when it offers no viable
solution and really only serves to further muddy the already murky social and
political waters.
Since no one here seems to be payin much heed to your Communist blatherings
maybe a good place to practice your ideologies would be Iran, Iraq, Palestine or
one of those other lovely hot spots in the region. I mean afterall, those cats
are sure all for change here and they might just welcome a new perspective .....

Kim, while shadez might be batting for a team that just ain't gonna win this
season at least he is getting off his ass and trying. How many other people
(Americans or Europeans) do you know who try to make a difference? Most people
just accept "shit happens" and look the other way, refusing to believe
that things can get better.
I see it over here from one country to the next, different expectations bring
different results. Shadez wants change and he might not get a Communist Amerika
but he and his buddies might exert enough pressure to weaken the currently
corrupt and failing system and make a change for the better.
I mean, your current economy has been on the verge of collapse for a few years
now and when it goes the power goes with it, and the US doesn't have too many
friends abroad... Of course that won't happen, at least not a huge shift in the
balance as some people are predicting, but something has to change sooner or
later.

the only good coming out of this financial crisis is that tons of illegals are
heading back home to their places of origin.
I say if there are close to 3.5 million legal citizens here in the U.S.of A.,
let the government give us all 1 million dollars each, to spend and stimulate
our economy, $3.5 mil is a lot cheaper than the $700 billion they want!
