There is nothing worng with know several languages but to only know one
language where the common language is not that language is wrong. If you want
to come to this country and take part in everything we have to offer then you
should learn the common language. It should not be up the those of us who are
born here to learn the language of other countries to make it easier for them to
to get by here. I own a booth at the local fleamarket and we get many Mexicans
in to shop. If they don't speak english or have an interpretator with them they
won't get anything from me. It is not my responsibility to learn their
language, it is their responsibility to learn mine.

I sat down next to a large Korean family in a Japanese restaurant last weekend,
and all they spoke was English when conversing among themselves and their
server. I could have closed my eyes and would not have been able to guess their
nationality! On the other hand, I walk into an auto parts store, and five
Mexicans are straining the patience of the entire counter staff who are trying
to help them, but don't know what they want because they can't understand them.
Meanwhile, I'm standing there waiting almost half an hour until the language
lesson is over. Jgoins is absolutely right!

German illegals doing the same as Mexican I would feel the same. I was in the
Navy and was sent to Crete for a year and while I was there I learned enough of
the language to be able to go to town and purchase the things I wanted. If

work the system and that involves learning the language. The ones who come into
my booth and speak english receive a discount on what they purchase. The ones

went to night school to learn english so they could become U.S. citizens, and to

We will accept immigrants to this country but they should do it legally and
follow the process and become a citizen. In coming to the country they do not

Nobody said that be learning english you have to give up your heritage. There
are plenty of American citizens who still maintain their seperate heritage and
still know their native language along with english. The heritage issue is a
nonstarter and has no basis for not becomeing a legal citizen and learning the
